We spoke to Sam Hibbert, the Gilder Environmental Operations Planner, and asked him what should facilities managers be thinking about heading into winter.
“Having had a relatively hot and dry summer, it’s inevitable the winter is going to be cold and wet! Every winter we see a huge increase in blockages, flooding and pollution caused by unmaintained gullies and interceptors. This is the time of year to get on top of them and prevent winter issues! Both Gully and interceptor waste are relatively expensive to treat and we see lots of people trying to save a penny and put them off, However when they go wrong and there are issues, the bills can become astronomical!”
